My Krunkie Story - How it started

Earlier this year, I was bored and wasting time on weekends. I thought, I need to find a way to make money during this time. So I came up with an idea: Amazon FBA. I planned to build websites that didn’t really function in order to get products from distributors and sell them on Amazon.


One of the products I wanted was pet supplies. I named my fake store “Pet Munchie” with the slogan “Pet Munchie, that funkie crunchie”. It goes along to the beat of “Brass Monkey” by the Beastie Boys. Then I realized, this could be a real business. I could market this name and slogan like crazy. So I decided to forget Amazon FBA and become a pet food salesman lol.


But there was a problem: Pet Munchie was already trademarked. So I had to go back to Amazon FBA. I needed another product and another name. I thought of the fitness industry. I tried to think of catchy songs that would work to come up with a new company name… but I got nothing. Then I thought, why don’t I stick with Brass monkey. So I started to come up with names that rhymed with funkie or crunchie. Then it hit me: Krunkie. To me, that sounded like a great name for a pre workout, or energy drink or a hard seltzer.


But those industries were too expensive to enter. So I thought, why not start with clothing? I made a logo for Krunkie and trademarked it. I learned how to create logos, websites, and pretty much everything. I didn’t pay anyone to help with anything I stayed up late talking to distributors all over the world. I vetted them to make sure I found the absolute best…. And I did. I found the best ones, but now, it was time to pay for samples.


Samples were not cheap. I hesitated. Was this a good idea or not? Then I told myself: Matt, bet on yourself. You did the research. You found the best of everything. You built the whole business from scratch. You have to pull the trigger.

So at 2 am, I ordered my first samples. They arrived 2-3 weeks later, and they were amazing. The quality was so good, I knew they would sell. I love the name, I love the vibe, I love the logos. It just feels very me…. And the shorts immediately were my favorite shorts in my drawer. I made some adjustments, but the quality was what got me super excited at first. I legit wear them everyday.

I then dove in to hats, and made a few distributors go insane. I had one company block me because I had so many requests, they said it was too much for them lol. Lots of distributors think you’ll accept average quality. And I simply will not. Everything needs to be perfect. And I think it is. I think the shorts are better than lulu. I think the hats are better than Melin. I think it’s all swaggy. I just love it lol.


Now I’m all in on making Krunkie a big company. I’ve spent countless hours perfecting everything. I hope you all love it and enjoy it as much as I do. Support the cause.
